Simple Living

We try to keep everything in our lives as simple as possible.

I've been re-reading one of my books called "Simple Living Guide". About 10 years ago, I was very interested in the idea of simple living and now that I've revisited the book, I'm delighted that we are living many of the things that are described in the book.

The nice thing about it is that everyone gets to decide what simple living means to them. In essence, simple living is about living intentionally.

We have a small-ish home, which means there is less room for a lot of stuff.

We are quite mindful about the things we buy. I try to purchase only things that I love.

I received a new coat for Christmas, and so I gave away a coat today. I use Freecycle St. John's to find a home for things that I'm ready to part with, so that it can be used and loved by other people. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stjohnsfreecycle/ There are freecycle groups all over the world!

I bought a new pair of winter boots yesterday and gave away another pair that I wasn't using.

We try to minimize the amount of Christmas presents that we buy so that we can spend less time shopping and more time enjoying this quiet season.

We are intentional about how we spend our time, who we spend it with and how we spend it. We've learned to say no so that we're not overbooked or overworked. And, we've learned to say yes to the things that we love...
